Kirkistown Race Circuit

On the 1st and 2nd of September the team went to Kirkistown Race Circuit to test our car on a race track.

During two days we completed more than 100km on the track.

Our six drivers gained on track driving experience during the two days of testing. They learnt how to handle chicanes, corners and hills ahead of racing at Circuit Zolder (osclaítear i gcluaisín nua é) for the iLumen European Solar Challenge (osclaítear i gcluaisín nua é) on the 19-20 of September 2026.

We tested the limits of our car this week. We pushed all our systems: mechanical, electrical and software to their full capacity and gained new insights into our car. Testing sessions like these are crucial to develoing our race strategy and knowing how to prepare for different weather conditions, how the car performs at different speeds and how it adapts to different parts of the race track.

This was a week of new developments as our solar car generated more energy than it used for a drive. DCU Solar Racing have officially made Ireland's first solar powered race car.
